The short version
- We store what you put into Horsii so your stable can use it: your name, your horses, the plan, and who did what.
- Only members of the stables you join can see your stable's data.
- Horsii is free. No ads, no tracking, no analytics tools in the app, and we never sell your data.
- You can delete your account inside the app at any time.
1Who we are
Horsii is a free hobby project for people who share a stable. It is not a company and nothing in it is paid. It is made and run by [your name], a private person in Norway, who is responsible for the personal data described here. "We" in this policy means the person running Horsii.
This policy covers the Horsii app for iPhone and Android and this website, horsiiapp.com.
2What we collect
When you create an account
- Your name as you want the stable to see it, and your email address.
- Your password, stored only as a secure hash by our login provider. We never see it.
- If you use Sign in with Apple: the name and email Apple shares with us. You can choose to hide your email, and Apple then gives us a private relay address.
Your profile
- An avatar colour, and a photo if you add one.
- Your answers to the welcome questions: your role at the stable, what you and your horse do, your level, where your horse lives, what you want help with, and the rider type we show you.
Your horses
- Name, breed, sex, year of birth, stall, a photo, and your "good to know" notes.
- Meal plans: meals, times, feed, hay, supplements and medicine, with amounts, instructions and dates.
- Who owns or co-owns each horse.
What happens in your stable
- Which stables you belong to, and your role in them.
- Turns you take, give back or swap, and swap requests.
- When horses are let out or brought in, meals marked fed, and medicine marked given, each with who did it and when.
- Nudges, posts, photos you post, and reactions.
Your device
- A push notification token and whether your phone is iPhone or Android, if you turn notifications on.
- Your notification choices.
- Some settings are kept only on your phone, such as your active stable, your appearance setting, and welcome answers before you sign up.
Technical data
The services that run Horsii record technical logs, such as IP address, time of request and error messages. They are used to keep the service working and secure.
3Why we use it
| Purpose | Data | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Run your account and sign you in | Name, email, password hash, Apple sign-in data | Contract: we need it to provide Horsii |
| Share the stable plan with your stable | Horses, meal plans, turns, status, medicine and feeding records, posts | Contract |
| Send notifications you turned on | Push token, platform, notification choices | Consent, given through your phone's permission prompt. Turn it off any time |
| Tailor the app to you | Welcome answers | Contract |
| Keep Horsii secure and fix problems | Technical logs | Legitimate interest in a working, safe service |
| Answer your messages | What you send us | Legitimate interest in helping you |
We don't use your data for advertising, and we don't make automated decisions about you.
4Who can see it
- Your stable. Members of a stable see its horses, plan, turns, activity and feed, including your name, avatar and rider type.
- Only the horses you bring in. Your horses stay private until you add them to a stable.
- Co-owners of a horse can see and edit that horse and its meal plan.
- Photos are stored at web addresses that are long and hard to guess. Anyone who has the exact address can open the photo, so only post photos you're comfortable sharing that way.
- Service providers listed below handle data for us, under contract, only to run Horsii.
- Authorities, only if the law requires us to share it.
We never sell your personal data.
5Services we use
| Provider | What it does for Horsii | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, sign-in and photo storage | EU, Ireland |
| Expo (650 Industries) | Delivers push notifications and app updates | USA |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, iPhone push notifications, App Store | USA and worldwide |
| Android push notifications, Google Play | USA and worldwide | |
| [website host] | Hosts this website | [region] |
When data goes outside the EU and EEA, we rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, or on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
6How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account in the app (Settings, then Delete account):
- Your profile, posts, reactions, push tokens and notification choices are deleted.
- Horses only you own are deleted with their meal plans. Horses you co-own pass to the longest-standing other owner.
- You leave all your stables. Records the stable still relies on, such as past turns and medicine given, stay but no longer show your name.
- Photos you uploaded are deleted within 30 days.
Technical logs are kept by our providers for a limited time, normally a few weeks. If you can't open the app, email us and we'll delete your account for you.
7Your rights
You have the right to:
- see the personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it,
- correct it (most of it you can edit yourself in the app),
- have it deleted,
- object to or restrict how we use it,
- take it with you in a common format,
- withdraw consent, for example by turning off notifications.
Email us to use any of these rights. We answer within one month. You can also complain to your data protection authority. In Norway that is Datatilsynet, datatilsynet.no.
Children
Horsii is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access rules in the database make sure people only see stables they belong to. No system is perfectly secure, so we'll tell you without undue delay if a breach puts your data at risk.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
